Becoming your own health advocate: navigating a complex medical system with fluency

  • Herbs in Jars 210 S College St. Newberg, OR (map)

In this class we will explore simple ways to:

- have empowered and impactful conversations with providers

- make informed choices about your treatments

- connect with a sense of groundedness during difficult decisions

Co-taught with Sari Stubblefield, RN, a nurse for the last 13 years, working in hospice, oncology and at Bailey Boushay House, serving people with HIV, ALS, Huntington's, and Parkinson's disease. She has seen the importance of patients being given space to make their needs and values known. Recognizing healthcare is hardly a perfect system, her hope is to help people navigate it and encourage them to make it what they want it to be.
